Part 2/5:
According to eyewitness accounts and early reports, a male suspect was seen carrying an assault-style rifle as he moved through Rockefeller Square, situated adjacent to 345 Park Avenue. Descriptions indicate that he was dressed in a button-down shirt and a blazer before entering the building. The suspect appeared heavily armed, with the rifle being described as similar to an AR-15 style weapon.
Once inside the building, the suspect opened fire, starting with an NYPD officer who was working security in the foyer. The officer sustained gunshot wounds but is among the at least six individuals reported to have been injured during the incident. Details suggest that the gunfire extended beyond the foyer, with the suspect moving to upper floors and shooting additional victims.
