The suspect entered the U.S. on a B2 tourist visa in August 2022, which expired in February 2023. Subsequently, he filed for asylum but was working as a contractor for Uber at the time of the attack. Uber confirmed Solomon had passed background checks and posed no prior concerns, and the company is cooperating with law enforcement investigations.
Despite the meticulous planning, Solomon had no previous criminal record and was not on law enforcement’s radar before the incident. He now faces multiple federal charges, including a hate crime and 16 counts of attempted first-degree murder. If convicted, he faces a potential life sentence or up to 384 years in custody. His bail has been set at $10 million in cash.
