Turning from Eurasian geopolitics to the Americas, the U.S. State Department issued a strongly worded advisory warning Americans to leave Venezuela immediately. The country remains one of the most dangerous for U.S. nationals due to its escalating lawlessness under socialist dictator Nicolas Maduro.

The new advisory emphasizes that "every American is at risk of being detained by Maduro’s regime," pointing to the pervasive threat of arbitrary arrest.
