Adding another layer of complexity is the political involvement that often influences these decisions. The case of Louisiana’s governor, Jeff Landry, exemplifies this troubling crossover from athletic administration into politics.
Landry, who is also running the state, reportedly participated in a meeting with the LSU Board of Supervisors and key boosters to discuss firing Brian Kelly. Notably, these are the very individuals who have the authority to make such decisions, and their meetings effectively bypass traditional athletic department channels.
