Part 6/9:
Moving to Europe, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to propose a European-led military force of approximately 30,000 troops to monitor and support a potential peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. This initiative will be discussed during his upcoming meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C.
The Nature and Goals of the Proposed Force
The so-called “reassurance force,” presented at an emergency summit in Paris earlier this week, aims not to serve as a full-scale occupation but to provide critical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR). Its objectives include reopening Ukraine’s airspace, securing Black Sea trade routes, and safeguarding key infrastructure like nuclear power plants.
