The Dignity Bill, as outlined in recent coverage by The Federalist, aims to provide a new legal pathway for certain undocumented immigrants. Specifically, it targets those who entered the U.S. prior to 2020. Under the provisions of the bill, these individuals would be able to pay a relatively modest fee—fiscal estimates suggest a few thousand dollars—to obtain a form of "twilight" legal status.
This legal status would grant them permission to live and work in the United States but explicitly stop short of granting full citizenship rights. Importantly, proponents of the bill argue that it offers these immigrants a measure of dignity and integration without upheaving the existing legal framework.
