The story of Jack Ruby further fuels speculation. A nightclub owner with aspirations of being a mobster—though never officially a member of the crime syndicate—Ruby was an ambitious, volatile figure. He often acted as his own bouncer, throwing people out or brandishing his gun when necessary.
The pivotal moment came on November 24, 1963, when Ruby, just moments before Oswald was to be transferred from Dallas police custody, shot him in cold blood. Many initially saw Ruby’s act as spontaneous—a man driven by grief, anger, or patriotic fury. Ruby himself claimed he was acting out of hatred for the assassin.
