As Morton’s prominence and wealth grew, so did their home. Over his lifetime, Arbor Lodge underwent seven major renovations, transforming from a tiny cabin into an impressive mansion filled with history and artistry. After Julius Morton’s death in 1902, his eldest son, Joy Morton, took over and commissioned architect J. J. H. Jowett of Chicago to redesign and expand the property into a 52-room, three-story mansion.
