Part 5/12:
Designed by local architects Meade & Hamilton, the Drury House embodied the Tudor Revival style inspired by Elizabethan England. Priced at around $50,000—a hefty sum at the time—the mansion’s design features a striking red brick exterior with carved stone arches, towering Elizabethan chimneys, half-timbered gables, and ornate Tudor details. A prominent feature is an imposing brick tower with crenellated battlements, giving the residence a castle-like silhouette against the sky. The architecture was praised in the 1915 issue of Architectural Record as an exemplar of modern American estate design.
