Part 4/10:
The mansion’s exterior reflects an eclectic yet harmonious fusion of styles. Its walls are made from locally quarried pink quartzite, giving it a distinctive rose hue. The rough-hewn stone laid in a random ashlar pattern aligns with the Richardson Romanesque style popular in the late 1800s, exuding strength and grandeur.
Adding to its dramatic presence are French Renaissance motifs, visible in the steeply pitched rooflines, featuring castle-like battlements and soaring towers topped with copper steeples that shimmer against the skyline. The roofs, covered in dark Maine slate, add texture and depth. Multiple turrets, chimneys, and stone setbacks evoke a medieval castle transplanted into the American Midwest.
