Part 4/14:

During America’s Gilded Age, Plant commissioned several grand homes to reflect his status, spanning from Manhattan to Connecticut. His first notable mansion in Manhattan was located at 653 Fifth Avenue, strategically situated at the corner of East 52nd Street in a prestigious neighborhood. Acquired in 1902 from William K. Vanderbilt, the mansion was designed by architect Robert W. Gibson in an Italian Renaissance style, built using white marble and New Hampshire granite. Completed in 1905, the residence featured ornate interiors and a blend of European elegance with American grandeur.
