In 1952, she married Robert Shuler, an executive in advertising and PR, who would become her business partner. Together, they diversified her career, co-hosting a TV variety show in 1957 called Patricia Munsell, which showcased her musicality and comedic flair. She also ventured into films, playing the legendary Italian opera singer Nelli Melba in a biopic in 1953.

By the late 1950s, feeling constrained by her roles at the Met, she transitioned to musical theater and touring productions, starring in The Sound of Music, Kismet, and The King and I across the United States. Her versatility on stage confirmed her status as a multi-faceted performer.
