Patricia passed away in 2016 at the age of 91, leaving behind a legacy of artistry and elegance. Her estate, Haut Bois, experienced its own turbulent history. In 1975, businessman John L. Maddux Jr. purchased Haut Bois and eventually reverted its name to the historic designation "Haut Bois."
Over the ensuing decades, like many grand Gilded Age estates, the mansion faced neglect and decline. By the 1990s, it was on the brink of ruin, but a major restoration effort was undertaken to preserve this historic jewel. Restorers meticulously used original materials or faithful reproductions, revitalizing the mansion and its gardens.
