The mansion's design combined grandeur and modern comfort, featuring a steeply pitched roof, a towering 90-foot spire, and panoramic views of the Iowa plains. Inside, Allen spared no expense—state-of-the-art amenities like hot and cold running water, indoor toilets, gas lighting throughout, and even an elevator were installed, making it remarkably modern for the period.
