Part 2/10:
The story of Rynwood begins with Sir Samuel Salvage, born in England in 1876. An intrepid immigrant, Salvage's ventures into the textile industry revolutionized American manufacturing. Recognizing the potential of new synthetic fibers like viscose (then called "artificial silk"), he founded the American Viscose Corporation in 1908, supported by British firm Courtaulds. By 1911, Salvage had established a sprawling viscose plant in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, complete with a worker village inspired by traditional English mill towns, dubbed Viscose Village.
