Part 8/11:
The pièce de résistance was the addition of a ballroom suite on the southern side, replacing part of the original upper porch. The ballroom became one of the most exquisite rooms in the Boston area—an elegant space featuring a domed classical ceiling, murals by artist Allan Schwartz, and walls adorned with sumptuous Gobelin tapestries. Large French doors opened onto a vast glass-enclosed garden filled with exotic plants, making it a setting fit for the most refined social gatherings.
