China’s Military Movements: A Show of Force Near Taiwan
On the other side of the world, China has demonstrated its growing military assertiveness through large-scale exercises around Taiwan. In response to Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen's visits to Hawaii and Guam, Beijing launched nearly 100 naval and Coast Guard vessels into what is described as one of the most significant displays of force in decades.
The military drills span the Taiwan Strait and extend into the broader Western Pacific, including temporary airspace restrictions along China's southeast coast. Taiwan’s defense ministry responded by elevating alert levels and conducting preparedness exercises.
