He commissioned renowned architect Thomas Hastings of Carey & Hastings to bring his vision of White Eagle—a stately Georgian Revival mansion—to life. Construction commenced in the midst of World War I, yet the project proceeded diligently, culminating in 1918 with a mansion covering 41,000 square feet. The estate boasted a brick façade accented with white marble and limestone, crowned with a gabled slate roof, embodying European opulence.
