The estate’s name, “Boroood,” was a tribute to Jennings’ claimed descent from Aaron Burr, the American vice president. Whether factual or not, Jennings used this lineage to lend the estate an air of distinguished heritage. More than a name, Boroood was envisioned as a self-sufficient compound—a veritable village of luxury and productivity.
The main house exemplified Georgian grandeur, featuring 40 rooms filled with majestic halls and ornate details. The estate’s sprawling grounds included lush gardens, a working farm with horses and cattle, paved terraces, large brick terraces, elaborate fountains, and scenic pathways. The front entrance was marked by massive stone gates leading through a tree-lined driveway, which set the tone for the estate’s impressive scale.
