In 1954, the city of Wickliffe acquired Kolonobi along with its sprawling 54 acres, transforming it into the new city hall and public park. The mansion was carefully adapted for civic use—its grand living rooms became council chambers, and its library was converted into the mayor’s office, preserving Harry’s legacy within the civic fabric of Wickliffe.
A Historical Treasure Preserved
Today, Kolonobi remains a proud symbol of both history and community service. The building continues to function as an active city hall, hosting municipal functions and serving as a living museum of Wickliffe’s past. The preservation efforts have kept alive the elegance and stories of Harry Colby’s life—from an impoverished farm boy to a steel industry titan and historic landmark.
