Alabama's oldest documented building is a modest wooden log cabin known as the Joel Edens House, built in 1808. It features a simple hall-and-parlor design, consisting primarily of two rooms, originally located on the frontier before being relocated to the Huntsville Museum. Despite its humble size, this cabin holds the distinction of being Alabama’s earliest known structure, predating the state’s formation.
