Part 12/22:
Maryland: Brooke’s Pleasure
Built in 1652, Brooke’s Pleasure in Maryland is one of the earliest surviving structures. Its half-timbered design and brick foundation link it to Colonial America’s initial settlements and aristocracy.
Massachusetts: Webb House
Built circa 1637-1641, the Webb House in Duxbury is possibly the oldest wooden dwelling in America. Its timber frame was assembled with hand-hewn timbers, and it has seen continuous occupancy for nearly four centuries.
Michigan: MacGulphin House
The MacGulphin House, built before 1780 on Mackinac Island, is a rare example of early French Canadian architecture, constructed entirely without nails using traditional joinery techniques.
