Upon returning to the United States, he refined the design and began manufacturing the first American-made cream separator, the Charbles Tubular Cream Separator. As American agriculture modernized, so did the demand for efficient dairy equipment. By 1906, his factory, Sharples Separator Works, located on Maple Avenue in West Chester, was operating at full capacity.

Expansion and Legal Battles

Charbles' products saw international reach, with branches established in Illinois and California, and shipments sent across Europe, Argentina, Australia, and Japan. By the height of his enterprise, his factory spanned five acres, employed around a thousand workers, and produced approximately 3,700 cream separators annually.
