Part 6/10:
The estate’s grounds were a masterpiece of landscape design, featuring meticulously maintained gardens, a sweeping staircase over a dense, lush valley, and what might have been the largest private gardens on the Jersey Shore. A striking 150-foot brick and clay footbridge spanned down a hillside to the estate, creating a dramatic entrance and connecting various parts of the property.
The extensive grounds also included stables, a boat house on the lake, an orchard cottage, and a grand gatehouse. The property was illuminated with electric lights along pathways—an advanced feature for its time—adding to its fairy-tale ambiance.
