Part 10/12:
By the late 20th century, the estate adopted a new role as a specialty dairy farm, producing artisanal blue cheese. In 1991, the family launched Great Hill Blue, a handcrafted cheese that earned recognition among cheese connoisseurs. The cheese was made in the original barn, echoing the estate’s roots in craftsmanship and rural life.
Today’s Legacy: A Glimpse of Grandeur
Today, the estate remains privately owned, with the grand Tudor castle largely hidden from plain sight. Visitors cannot tour the property, but a glimpse of its iconic water-side miniature version can be seen. The estate’s history lives on through its architecture and the ongoing artisan cheese company.
