Over the next decade, Bartlett’s influence expanded. In 1882, the firm reorganized as Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company, solidifying his prominent role. Following the deaths of senior partners, he advanced from vice president in 1890 to president in 1904. Under his leadership, the company grew into one of the largest hardware firms globally. It also gave birth to the True Value brand, native to their network of retail stores, a legacy that endures today.
