Conklin died in 1938 from pneumonia, ending a storied life marked by resilience, innovation, and ambition. Over the following decades, Rosemarie Farm's grandeur faded. The estate remained the property of the church, but its once-glorious opera house and theater fell into disrepair. In December 1990, tragedy struck when the mansion was set ablaze by vandals—destroying much of its historic architecture and leaving only charred remains of what was once Long Island’s most opulent estate.
