As his influence grew, so did his desire for a distinguished residence. In 1914, Truman and his family built their “home of dreams,” known as Draybrook, on Lake St. Clair, just north of Detroit. Located on a narrow 300-foot frontage but extending nearly a mile inland, the estate was a private retreat. The architectural firm Albert Kahn Associates crafted a grand Georgian-style mansion from red brick and limestone, completed in 1914.
