Part 5/10:
As the family’s wealth grew, so did its social standing. Henry Siljman emerged as a key figure, carrying forward the family’s financial legacy into the 20th century. His marriage in 1899 to Eddie Walter marked his entrance into New York’s high society. Henry invested heavily in real estate, acquiring prestigious properties such as the ornate mansion at 56 West 56th Street, designed by architect C.P.H. Gilbert. Completed in 1901, this French Renaissance-style residence showcased the family's wealth and refined taste, with its majestic limestone façade, intricate wrought-iron balconies, and opulent interior featuring vaulted ceilings, intricate moldings, and luxurious furnishings.
