Part 6/10:
Beyond New York City, the Siljmans built lavish summer homes to escape the city's hustle. In around 1905, they completed Shorelands in Elberon, New Jersey, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Designed once again by Gilbert, Shorelands featured expansive terraces, lush gardens, and recreational facilities such as tennis courts. The estate served as a social hub during the summer months, hosting grand parties, garden gatherings, and oceanfront festivities—a symbol of their social prominence and love for leisure.
