The death of Henry Siljman in 1933 due to a sudden heart attack marked a turning point. His passing was a shock not only to his family but also to New York society, as his wife Eddie was seriously ill and unable to process the news. Eddie herself died shortly after in January 1934, leaving the family's prominence in question.
