O'Reilly begins by describing the core allegations revealed by the FBI: a couple of individuals associated with the NBA became entangled with organized crime. These individuals allegedly participated in fixed, electronically rigged poker games, involving card counting and manipulation to benefit mafia betting interests.
More disturbingly, these insiders are believed to have provided the mafia with tips on which basketball games to bet on—effectively fixing outcomes. The players named include Chanty Bilips, a Hall of Famer and coach of the Portland Trailblazers; Terry Roier, a guard for the Miami Heat; and Damon Jones, a former NBA player and coach now out of the league.
