Part 10/13:

The federal government has issued strong statements condemning GM and Stellantis (Chrysler), accusing them of breaching commitments to keep manufacturing jobs in Canada. Ottawa initially exempted these automakers from retaliatory tariffs on the condition they uphold their investments domestically. Yet, without robust enforcement or incentives, this commitment has fallen short.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford have publicly warned the automakers that Canadians will remember if they abandon local jobs. Trudeau has also hinted at using diplomatic pressure, including warning Trump that Canada will defend its workers if U.S. policies threaten further damage.
