While generous support for pensioners and the aged care system is understandable—compensating those who pay taxes throughout their lives—other programs like the NDIS and middle-class welfare are problematic.
Milner pointed out that there are too many individuals qualifying for disability support, often children who could benefit more from proper education and training, not a blanket support system. Middle-class welfare programs, including childcare subsidies, are also contributing to a dependency culture that Australia cannot afford in the long term.
