Part 6/8:
Architectural Features and Living Space
The prefab designs showcased open plans, allowing flexible living arrangements—a hallmark of Wright’s philosophy. Despite its compact footprint, the house included a formal dining area within the living space and a segregated kitchen, highlighting an early attempt at functional zoning. The layout comprised a hallway leading to four spacious bedrooms, each designed to accommodate standard furniture comfortably.
Constructed with American staples like plywood and Masonite, the homes balanced durability with economy. These homes demonstrated that thoughtful design could be achieved within budget constraints, a critical factor for broad adoption.
