With eight weeks gone in the season, the outlook appears bleak. While the Saints might not finish 1-7 every year, there’s little hope for meaningful improvement anytime soon. The roster lacks a developmental pipeline, and the recruiting, drafting, and player development processes seem all but broken.
The feeling is that Mickey Loomis’s grasp on the franchise's future is holding everything back. The organization appears to lack innovative leadership capable of turning the tide. The belief that the franchise will suddenly find a way out of this mess seems increasingly naive, especially when the ownership’s emotional ties and personal relationships seem to outweigh strategic decisions.
