From the moment Walter Roche could walk, he was captivated by the natural world. Unlike other children who played with toy trains, Walter spent his days exploring the expansive gardens of Tring Park, a family estate in Hertfordshire. His fascination with insects and wildlife fueled his imagination and dedication, despite facing speech impediments and unaddressed learning challenges. Supported by his family’s unwavering encouragement, Walter’s passion grew, leading him to declare at age seven his ambition to create a museum. By age ten, he had amassed enough specimens to begin building one in a garden shed, turning his childhood curiosity into a lifelong pursuit.
