The Future and the Need for Radical Change
Hollywood’s current trajectory suggests that a major overhaul is overdue—if the industry is to survive. Already, signs of crisis are evident with the industry throwing everything at the wall in desperate attempts to attract viewers, from rerunning recognizable characters in trailers to investing heavily in poorly received projects.
The reliance on safe IP and franchise sequels is now increasingly unreliable, as audience trust wanes. If Hollywood continues down this path, it risks fading into obscurity, replaced by independent filmmakers and studios like A24 and others that prioritize artistry over box office numbers.
