When a player like Terry Rosier is suspended, their regular paycheck might be diverted into a segregated account or escrow account—a special, controlled holding place for the funds. These accounts are managed by the employer (the Miami Heat, in Rosier's case) and are controlled by an escrow agent, a neutral third party.
The crucial point is: the money is allocated to a segregated or escrow account, and the suspended individual does not have immediate access to it. The funds do not necessarily mean the player is being paid in the traditional sense; rather, the money is reserved and held until the league and team decide when to release it, typically after investigations are concluded.
