Prior to Biden’s presidency, dismissals due to missing NTAs were rare, making up less than 1% of deportation cases. However, since 2021, this figure has skyrocketed to over 8%, representing tens of thousands of dismissed cases annually. In 2020, only about 6,500 cases were affected, but under Biden, the number surged to nearly 34,000 the following year. The figures continued to climb, and in 2023, around 69,000 deportation cases were dismissed due to procedural errors—a clear indicator of systemic administrative shortcomings.
