While the Fujen represents a milestone for China, it is clear that the ship's design bears the scars of rushed development, structural compromises, and political ambitions. Its shortcomings—limited deck space, oversized aircraft, and operational bottlenecks—highlight fundamental challenges that require time and resources to overcome.
Compared to over 80 years of US carrier evolution and nuclear propulsion, China's first foray into classified complex carrier design remains far behind. The question remains whether future iterations will prioritize technological innovation or continue to serve political goals.
