The tower modules are crafted from laminated veneer lumber (LVL), a strong, engineered wood product. These modules are designed to be both durable and lightweight, providing structural strength comparable to traditional steel towers but with a significantly lower environmental impact.
Environmental Benefits
One of the main advantages of using wood from sustainably managed forests is its potential to drastically reduce the carbon footprint of wind turbines. The Swedish project claims that their wooden towers will emit up to 90% less CO₂ during construction compared to conventional steel towers.
