The external symbols of success—cars, clothes, status—are superficial; they do not garner genuine interest. If others do judge us, Chad asks, would we truly want those superficial judgments or the opinions of people who may not appreciate us for who we truly are?
The emphasis is on investing energy in what truly matters—our growth, happiness, and purpose. When we realize that the world does not owe us anything, we free ourselves from the need to seek approval, which can otherwise be a source of misery and limitation.
