Part 10/14:
Miami’s defense was a formidable “no-name” unit—unleashing relentless pressure on opponents. Nick Buanakanti, who traded into Miami for nearly nothing, made a key interception in Super Bowl VII. After retiring, he became a sports agent and sports commentator, later advocating for spinal cord research following his son’s paralysis; he died in 2019 at 78, posthumously diagnosed with CTE.
Bill Stanfill was a ferocious pass rusher, leading the team with sacks and earning all-pro honors. His relentless pursuit disrupted offenses but later suffered health issues from football injuries, passing in 2016 at age 69, also with CTE.
