Participants were given a strict set of guidelines. They had to spend the entire ten thousand dollars within three months, with no option to invest or save any portion of the money. Moreover, they were required to document and report precisely how every dollar was spent by the end of the period. Half of the group was additionally instructed to share their spending experiences on their personal social media pages, creating a public record of their financial activities and motivations.
