Part 12/14:
The first phase of this monumental project took a significant step in April 2024, when Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum authorized a $35 billion investment primarily focused on developing the first terminal, including the initial concourse, runway, baggage systems, and supporting infrastructure.
By 2032, Al-Maktum Airport is projected to manage around 130 million passengers—more than doubling the current capacity of Dubai International. The subsequent phases will expand capacity to 150 million and eventually to the full projected 260 million passengers per year by the 2050s, along with a 15 million-ton cargo capacity—making it several times larger than the largest global hubs today.
