The graph rises as robots become more humanlike but then dips sharply when they cross the valley—an unsettling "pit"—before rising again with truly realistic entities. This dip correlates with our subconscious recognition of subtle flaws, such as unnatural facial expressions or mismatched eye movements, which trigger discomfort because they mimic psychopathic or hollow human behaviors.
