Brundage identified five key gaps that must be addressed to ensure safe and effective AGI development:
- Shared Understanding:
There’s a dire need for a common comprehension of what AGI entails and its societal implications. Currently, stakeholders—from tech companies to the public—operate in informational silos, fostering confusion and misinformation.
- Regulatory Infrastructure:
Existing laws are antiquated, designed for calculators rather than superintelligent systems. Without robust, adaptable regulations, there's a danger of unregulated, potentially reckless development.
