Despite what workers want, the tech industry seems to be building primarily for full AI control (H1)—what the researchers call "H1 solutions." This misalignment is causing a significant wasted investment. For example, the top 10 jobs most eager for automation only make up 1.26% of actual AI usage, meaning that current AI deployments are largely focused on areas of low real human demand. Meanwhile, startups and investment funds are pouring billions into projects that probably don't serve the needs of workers or organizations.
