Despite the turmoil at OpenAI, the landscape of AGI research remains dynamic and resilient. Today, the majority—over 90%—of research relevant to progress toward AGI is openly accessible. Universities such as Stanford, as well as corporate research labs like Microsoft Research, Meta, and others, contribute significantly to open-source projects that underpin advances in AI.
